Jewelry appraisals are an important part of taking care of, and protecting, your fine jewelry. Your homeowners insurance policy may cover your jewelry, but most of the time they are going to require a written appraisal of your jewelry. You may need a rider on your policy, or there are also specific policies for jewelry available. It is also important to keep your appraisals up to date. Gold prices are always fluctuating and they have gone up dramatically in the last few years. Diamond prices are also on the rise. If your jewelry appraisals are more than a few years old you probably are not protecting the full value of your jewelry.
At Beauchamp Jewelers we have GIA Graduate Gemologist and Appraiser on staff. We are happy to help you with accurate insurance appraisals. Nobody wants to pay too much for their insurance, and you definitely want to be fully covered in case something were to happen. When your jewelry is appraised the gold and diamonds will be tested to ensure their authenticity and to determine their quality and value. Every appraisal from Beauchamp Jewelers includes a complete description of the item, photographs and 2 copies of the appraisal document. One copy should be kept in a safe place for your records (somewhere different than your jewelry) and the other copy is for your insurance company.
When you purchase a piece of fine jewelry from our store ask for an appraisal, most of the time they are free. If you purchased your jewelry somewhere else, or just want to update your appraisal we can help you with that as well. Our appraiser is now available for all jewelry, including items not purchased in our Albuquerque store.
If you just want to sell your jewelry, an appraisal isn’t really necessary but we would be happy to make an offer on your gold, silver, diamond, estate, and other jewelry. Our store may have the “big city” look, but we’ve been in Albuquerque 60 years, since it was a small town and we are still locally owned. We may be big, but we will treat you like that small “mom & pop” store and we will take care of ALL of your jewelry needs.
